The Pacific Surfliner

The Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency is a joint powers authority comprised of rail owners, operators, and planning agencies along the 351-mile coastal rail corridor linking San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo.  Effective July 1, 2015, the LOSSAN Agency has assumed administrative responsibility for the state-funded Pacific Surfliner service operating on the LOSSAN rail corridor, following the approval of an interagency transfer agreement with the State of California.

Locally focused management of the Pacific Surfliner service will help to further enhance customer service, ensure efficient use of resources, and allow effective decisions about schedules, on-board amenities, and service expansion. The Pacific Surfliner is currently the second busiest Amtrak intercity route in the nation, with more than 2.8 million annual passengers.  For more information, visit and
